owing to the fact that i will now be working for myself, discipline is in serious order. even more so than ever before. i think i am now caught up on real sleep and have shaken off my retail sleep patterns, but i am perfectly prepared to take on a whole new set of reckless sleep patterns if that is what it takes.
i came across henry miller's work schedule commandments and fell in love with everything about it immediately. i felt it worked in perfectly with my life at this point in time.

i like to call my first week off of work "celebration week" simply because that's what i did, celebrate. along with celebrating, i have been planning my days and putting together a daily schedule for myself which will continuously need refining, i am sure.
i have been having a great time djing all around long beach this past month. it's been really fun. we will be djing at food truck fridays again this week and are super excited to be providing the shopping jams on black friday at anneise.
we djed a really lovely and heartfelt wedding yesterday at marrakesh house. the day was bittersweet, and i have to say my heart was feeling pretty heavy, as my mother in-law was diagnosed with cancer last month and underwent a very intense surgery just 2 days prior to yesterday's big event. being at the wedding was nice though, you could definitely feel the love in the air. the ceremony was beautiful and many warm things were said about the bride and groom all night long. mariachis played during the prelude and since we were playing music for the ceremony too, we had the pleasure of hanging out with them for a bit. hector shared childhood memories of singing with his mom when she would sing with mariachis. at one point during their performance yesterday, hector called his mom at the hospital and the mariachis dedicated her favorite song to her and played it as she listened over the phone. the touching gesture made me cry and made me happy that she got to listen and experience a little bit of joy, especially right now while she is going through a rough recovery. it was so kind and reminded me of how powerful music can be.
it was such a pleasure to be a part of such a beautiful day.
hola! things are getting busy over here at peacock headquarters. i would first like to say how much i appreciate the referrals! as mentioned before, we are stepping into new territory this year. you can now hire peacock social for your event coordinating needs. we just booked two weddings as "day coordinators". one of them is in joshua tree, which should be amazing. the idea of event planning feels really natural to me. as djs we have had a lot to do with wedding production. timing is everything! we have learned so much these past couple of years.
i feel we have a lot to offer. i've also been thinking a lot about the talent i am surrounded by. which is why i plan on compiling a list of contacts/vendors that can help you with your event needs. i will be posting that sometime tomorrow. so, stay tuned!
have you noticed the little "we dj" stamp [of approval] addition to our lovely ps logo? it's been up for a bit. i do love the fine look of the logo, but the other day i went into a panic and considered a sudden name change. it's not the first time this has happened to me. the last time this happened was when we djed at smog shoppe. the manager asked 'why peacock social?' i said, 'why not?'. well, the truth is, i originally chose peacock social for it's stylish appeal, for it's flow and slight sophistication mixed with a party edge. peacocks are beautiful, and did you know that peacocks are male? hence, the cock. hee.
seriously though, i am on fire with ideas. i decided to hold onto peacock social. as i told my friend cindy b the other day, there's a buzz around peacock social. i caught myself and laughed. haha! hey, i have to believe in myself!
