i had a lovely birthday. spent with family during the day, and enjoyed wine with erika and brian in the eve. it was mellow, just the way i like things these days. my sister and nephews got me a power juicer for my birthday, which helped kick off a 5 day juice cleanse that hector and i started yesterday. today seems to be a little easier than yesterday hunger-wise, but i am super tired and a bit foggy. if i can get through these 5 days, i just might go for another 5. we'll see.
*currently listening to myth by beach house(new album out may 15! super excited!!)
i was looking in the mirror yesterday and found some new laugh lines. i remembered something someone once told me "wrinkles are our history." beautifully said. i thought about the lines on my face and the memories that go along with my lines. each time i laugh and each time i cry, there is a little piece of history left on my face. i know i am only approaching 36 years (my mom swears i am in my prime), but regardless of how young i still am - there is an evident shift in my little thirtysomething universe. i do look forward to my late thirties though. many more goals to achieve and many more laugh lines to create.
i am kicking off this week with underneath the pine by toro y moi. this album is so nice. it has a folk-y disco sound. it fits in perfectly with the rest of the songs i have compiled on my birthday celebration playlist, which also includes automaticby the pointer sistersand a little prefuse 73just to name a couple. i rarely dj my own parties. mostly because i like to tend to my guests.
sometimes you just have to let the music play.
