SONGS WE LOVE: CAKE

i have been listening to toro y moi nonstop since the new album came out. i am becoming more and more in love with it with each listen. it takes me back to the music i listened to through all phases of my life. i am particularly drawn to this song cake. which was apparently written for justin bieber to sing. after taking a few listens you can sort of understand why. it's just another thing i love about toro y moi, the honestly. it's annoying when artists feel the need to outdo one another with musical obscurities all the time (that goes for djs too, by the way). sometimes it's refreshing to listen without boundaries.

i will return later today with a spinning the love beats post.

until then.

BUSINESS MODE

today i stumbled upon this idea for ecological business cards from andrea romani and i absolutely love it! when we are finished passing out our current supply of business cards, this is definitely the direction we will be heading.

in other news, i am pretty excited about the release of toro y moi's new album tomorrow AND i finally got my camera lens back from tuttle, which makes me so happy.

happy martin luther king day.

xo.

saturday love

saturday love by cherrelle is one of my all time favorite songs. so when i heard toro y moi was releasing a cover, i was instantly skeptical, yet excited to hear what he would do with it.

i ended up enjoying it. it's a pretty nice little cover.

new beat

i am kicking off this week with underneath the pine by toro y moi.  this album is so nice. it has a folk-y disco sound. it fits in perfectly with the rest of the songs i have compiled on my birthday celebration playlist, which also includes automatic by the pointer sisters and a little prefuse 73  just to name a couple. i rarely dj my own parties. mostly because i like to tend to my guests.
sometimes you just have to let the music play.

what a perfect way to start the week.
