vacation notes from my moleskine

my vacation started with lykke li's show at the wiltern followed by a trip to palms springs. each time i visit palm springs i discover more reasons why i love it so much. this time around we went to the palm springs art museum which was so amazing. the art of john baldessari was showing, along with some incredible sculpture, video, photography, and even a yoshitomo nara piece (one of my old loves). we also got to watch the bosnian film belvedere  in the little theatre there at the museum. i couldn't leave without playing slots at the casino up the street from the hotel. i love 5 cent slots!
fun, fun!
when we got home, we spent the day with our friends, gina and cindy b. we met them at their adorable little home in los feliz where we drank good beer, ate delicious food which included gazpacho, a honey pear salad, and veggie pasta. we talked about our creative endeavors, had some laughs and watched some of gina's old film projects. i just love these girls. they are so inspiring.
my last day of vacation was spent celebrating my sister's birthday. we ended up at the yard house here in long beach where i discovered my love for IPA.

it was definitely a good one.

ace in your face

my husband tor and i had a blast on a last minute trip to palm springs. as mentioned before, i love the ace hotel! this hotel has everything you could possibly want, a jamming little bar (try the facial!), a restaurant that focuses on local ingredients, DIY bbq, and spas in yurts! all very mid-century, boho modern, meets rancho style. we are heading back at the end of summer with big party plans in mind.

the ace

today we reserved a room at the ace hotel in palm springs. i have been looking forward to going back since our visit last year. this hotel is so fresh, with a modern bohemian feel. everything i would ever want in a hotel.
